Description: EUNIS Habitat maps The EUNIS Habitat maps layer is a compilation of habitat maps from surveys in the EMODnet Seabed Habitats project area that contain habitat data in the EUNIS classification system. Surveys previously submitted to the long-running MESH and MESH Atlantic projects have also been included within this dataset. It is worked on constantly and updated periodically with data submitted voluntarily to EMODnet Seabed Habitats through the contributing data process. If you have habitat data which you would like to display on EMODnet Seabed Habitats, please follow the data submission process. The data are separated into three rough scale categories: Broad, Medium and Fine. Broad scale maps reflect coarse-resolution habitat maps that should be viewed at larger scales. They are visible between the scales of 1:433k and 1:7M. Medium scale maps reflect moderate-resolution habitat maps that can be viewed at scales smaller than broad scale maps. They are visible between the scales of 1:100k and 1:900k. Fine scale maps reflect detailed habitat maps that can be viewed at small scales. They are visible between the scales under 1:217k. Outside of their visible scales, the study area bounding boxes of the maps will be displayed to aid the user in determining potential data coverage. Where there are overlapping mapping studies, the MESH confidence assessment system is used to determine which is shown on top. These three layers are available to download in ESRI Shapefile format from the download page ( http://www.emodnet-seabedhabitats.eu/default.aspx?page=1953 ).
